THE ROLE
As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for developing, updating, maintaining and monitoring MarketInvoice’s data infrastructure. Given that building good databases and implementing effective data aggregation techniques is critical for our business, you will need to use your abilities to work under pressure and perform time-critical tasks to ensure teams that rely on data tools are supported and are able to make right decisions. You will use your experience of selecting the right tools and architecting the data infrastructure in a way that supports a high-growth environment. You will also need to have great communication skills to explain the decisions you are making on the data infrastructure and understand the requirements of various teams that rely on data analysis in making decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Construct and develop new databases and optimise existing ones
- Monitor the performance of data infrastructure, ensure data is regularly collected and stored, all the relevant data integrations are working properly
- Implement tools to maintain our data infrastructure, pull data out of databases and prepare the data for further analysis
- Implement production-level machine learning algorithms
- Optimise our data infrastructure for scale and be able to anticipate and resolve scalability issues
Requirements
- 5+ years of working on data infrastructure projects where you had direct involvement in setting up, maintaining and updating data infrastructure for a mid-size or high-growth organisation
- Experience with Python, Redshift, AWS and Looker desirable
- Exposure to R, .NET using F# / C#, SQL Server and Azure beneficial
- Great interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work under pressure and on time-critical tasks
- Understanding of key concepts of statistics / data science, business intelligence or machine learning is an advantage
- Software engineering, computer science or other quantitative degree or background that enables you to perform data engineering tasks
