As a lead member of the Global IS&T (Information Systems and Technology) Strategy, Architecture, and Innovation (SA&I) team, the goal of the Enterprise Architect position is to advance the IS&T technology strategy and implementation as it relates to the Bechtel business vision, mission, and objectives. The Enterprise Architect must ensure technology platforms can evolve to support a high performance and scalable environment, and are reliable, secured, and maintainable for a global enterprise.
The Enterprise Architect will lead by example in a global business environment formulating a strategic multi-year IS&T portfolio rationalization and transformation initiative.
This is a hands-on (individual contributor) leadership position with responsibility for setting technical and architectural direction and seeing the direction through to high-quality solution deployments.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assessing, defining, and championing enterprise technology infrastructure, information, and integration architecture strategies, principles, and standards in alignment with the IS&T strategy and governing their use; coordinates with project teams to create, document, assess and/or validate the application and infrastructure solution architectures for specific systems
- Researching, evaluating, and selecting technologies and infrastructure platform solutions
- Documenting and managing implementation of technical roadmaps
- Coordinating the development of architectural frameworks
- Lead the analysis of the technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
- Provide technology vision and direction and influence and educate a wide range of audiences
- Provide leadership and facilitate cross discipline discussions and decisions regarding Global IS&T architectural direction
- Oversee, develop, and implement critical architectural designs in alignment with future state IS&T infrastructure technical architecture roadmap
- Design overall system and solution architecture, system integration, and implementation strategy
- Develop, influence, and review major technical interface specifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field
- 15+ years of relevant experience in the field of information technology
- 10+ years of experience relevant to this position with large enterprise deployments (10,000+ users)
- Expert knowledge and 7+ years of experience with designing enterprise architecture for a multi-business unit Fortune 500 global company or similar that encompasses the following:
- Enterprise infrastructure, technology platform, network, data center, and applications
- Systems architecture such as, platform, database, servers, network, tele communication technologies
- Integration and Interoperability - Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Business Process Management (BPM)
- Information management, Security and Control
- IT portfolio rationalization experience with the ability to form architecture solutions and projects that are based on business operating model and IT roadmap alignment across multiple domains
- 12+ years of experience with an SDLC and where Enterprise Architecture will interface, touch and provide value
- Execute large scale system integration programs through enterprise systems (e.g., Cloud, IaaS, SCM, BI, PLM, Project Controls, Quality Management, etc.)
- 15+ years of experience with a broad range of technologies and multiple IT domains
- 12+ years of experience as a technical lead on complex assignments that contain multiple threads
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree preferred
- TOGAF certification (or similar Enterprise Architecture certification) preferred
- Prior experience in a team lead or management position
- Understands Six Sigma and/or Lean principles
- Demonstrated experience working with, and presenting to, executive management
- Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of constituencies
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Strong communicator and able to draw consensus from multiple disciplines
