A Principal Software Engineer is an expert at developing and troubleshooting software and following the processes of Calabrio. A Principal Software Engineer will be able to be given minimal direction and work independently or work on their own, providing updates to their manager on a timely basis. A Principal Software Engineer is capable of doing design work on entire projects and will also be responsible for the testing, reviewing and documentation of all aspects of a project. A Principal Software Engineer is expected to be an expert on at least one product, have a basic understanding of all Calabrio products, and will be able to provide ideas and make significant contributions related to problem solving or overcoming technical issues. A Principal Software Engineer is expected to provide high quality work bug free output on any project or task they are given. A Principal Software Engineer receives work direction directly from a manger or higher.

CORE EXPECTATIONS
- Utilize many different code languages and development environments
- Manage source control software, backup and restore processes
- Responsible for producing error free well tested software module
- Lead all technical aspects of projects including design reviews, specifications, coding modules, code reviews, unit test, and system integration test
- Lead team activities including trouble ticket resolution, and reporting
- Lead support efforts for Calabrio products by providing technical assistance, product information and addressing issues
- Review and provide feedback on manuals, release notes, compatibility matrixs and patch documentation
- Expert on at least one Calabrio product and assists others on product or technology questions
- Basic knowledge of all Calabrio products and interactions between them
- Responsible for technical integration of product/customer specific implementations
- Other core expectations will be defined by your direct supervisor/manager
- Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing software
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with team members, senior support personnel, high level personnel and customers
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent knowledge of proper syntax in an OO language such as C++ or Java
- Excellent knowledge of software engineering techniques OO design, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of RDBMS and OS
- Excellent knowledge of design techniques and tools such as UML
- Excellent with software dev tools including IDES, debuggers, memory analyzers and code profilers
- Excellent ability to design systems and understand the interaction between modules and products
- Other core competencies will be defined by your direct supervisor/manager
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
- 4-year college degree level knowledge of modern programming techniques and languages
- 10+ years of experience with C++, Java or similar Object-Oriented language
- 2+ years of experience leading software development projects
