Platform Operations Manager at The HT Group (Austin, TX)

We have partnered with a local Austin company to find a dynamic Platform Operations Manager to join their team. This position will administer and oversee implementation, organization and troubleshooting of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosted platform. The Platform Operations Manager will be responsible for critical systems functions such as monitoring, site reliability, performance and support. Therefore, a deep background in administration, performance, and troubleshooting is required, along with a service orientation and problem solving abilities. This role has direct responsibility for our partner resources providing application support as well as individual contributor responsibilities. This position will also provide leadership, direction and coordination for the organization, delivery of platform enhancements and process improvements to support the operational needs of the company.

Main Responsibilities:

• Plan for AWS capacity, configuration and performance monitoring as well as reporting, budgets and forecasting for AWS.
• Ownership of AWS cloud based systems across all phases; provisioning, operation, support, maintenance, compliance and decommissioning.
• Implement and support security solutions in accordance with best practices.
• Work with business stakeholders and engineering team to identify business requirements and system development specifications for product development and business changes.
• Resolve issues by working with cross-departmental teams, including product management, account management, customer support, software engineering and IT partners.
• Solves complex problem situations and participate in the identification of opportunities for improvement to processes, procedures or tools.
• Ensures appropriate documentation is created for any platform or process updates.
• Other initiatives will develop as needed.

Experience, Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline. May substitute applicable experience on a year for year basis.
• Experience provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running on AWS.
• Capabilities to provide AWS operations and deployment leadership throughout the lifecycle of a project.
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management and Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Deployment experience using common AWS technologies like VPC, EC2 instances, Docker, and more.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment with partner providers.
• Detail-oriented, strong work ethic and high standard of excellence.
  

Preferred:

• Understanding of the nuances of a Financial Services Institution (i.e. banking regulations, mechanisms of fee-based income versus not-interest income, payment mechanics, industry trends, etc.).
