BI Analyst at Vistage Worldwide, Inc. (San Diego, CA)

SUMMARY 

The primary role of this position is to empower our user community with access to the right information at the right time. This position is about more than just data, as data without interpretation is interesting but not actionable. This position is responsible for taking complex projects related to specific business problems (as defined by senior management) and synthesizing data, distilling findings, and recommending next steps.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with Senior Data Analyst and Database Manager to design and develop MS SQL based ETLs, data marts, views and stored procedures
• Create and support data extract methods including Access databases, Excel spreadsheets, data cubes, report models, custom SQL scripts, or Tableau data connections.
• Support business and BI analysts and report writers by providing and supporting trusted data sources and extracts
• Work with business units and internal IT resources on the development and maintenance of back-end data integrations and their usability with respect to reporting and analytical potential
• Develop dynamic models, reports, graphs, and other data visualizations depicting historic and forecasted trends.
• Perform analyses across multiple dimensions, such as lead source, location, product or time series.
• Implement and maintain processes to monitor data quality and integrity
• Understand and recommend action on key drivers of KPIs
• Develop and maintain accurate system documentation including information about attributes and business rules. Assists with the maintenance of data dictionaries.
• Work closely with business leaders to understand their processes, gather and document reporting/analysis requirements, and translate those requirements into functional and non-functional specifications.
• Identify impediments and obstacles which prevent the user community from accessing the information they require
• Develop methods, training plans, and tools to overcome those obstacles
• Maintain understanding of BI technology trends and use this knowledge to bring solutions to business units and IT.
• Consult with business leaders to ensure that analytical studies produce usable results.
• Communicate effectively and professionally, in both oral and written communications, with all levels of the organization.
  
  REQUIREMENTS
• 5-10 years of experience in a SQL developer or analyst position, or equivalent.
• Proven experience with relational databases, writing SQL queries, views, and stored procedures, including extensive experience with MS SQL.
• Proven experience creating visualizations with Tableau (strongly preferred) or similar tools such as Qlikview.
• Experience with multiplatform enterprise data integration eg ERP, CRM systems (ideally Salesforce) required
• Experience with sales and marketing analytics, time series analyses, contract based data also beneficial
• Detail oriented with strong organizational, technical, and problem solving skills.
• Good judgment and decision making skills and the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization is essential.
• Tableau or Microsoft BI certifications a plus
