Function
As R&D engineer you will work within a team focussed on discovering infrastructure and software technologies and evaluating their implementation within the technological landscape within TVH.
You will be operating within an Agile environment where your workplace is designed to fit the needs of the scrum-based way of working.
By integrating software packages, programs and reusable objects from multiple platforms you improve the software development en runtime environments.
You will be working within a wide range of development toolings & programming languages, Java & OpenEdge being the main ones.
You investigate and assess the technical feasibility of functional proposals.
To rise up to the complex development challenges within the software development processes you evaluate and set-up Technical and Methodological Solutions.
The Initial development phase and/or re-engineering of application components is one of your responsibilities.
You support the current general development practices such as: Object-oriented principles (including IOC, patterns); Agile-development, Project-based development, XP practices & test driven Development.
Before new functionalities enter into production, you set up and perform a broad range of tests to assure that quality standards are met.
You offer support in the investigating and solving of incidents and problems within the R&D context and also search for improvements of the applications and processes.
Profile
A Bachelor’s degree in ICT or equivalent by experience.
Eagerness to learn & discover new development methodologies and technologies, while trying to pragmatically apply them to the current requirements within TVH.
Motivation by the challenge of transforming a traditional development context through innovation and acceleration.
A solid background in software development and experience with a variety of technologies, methodologies, libraries & frameworks.
An in-depth & hands-on knowledge of one development language, preferably java and familiarity with coding business logic, services and dynamic web development.
Good knowledge of windows & unix operating systems and you are at ease within an open-source ecosystem.
Ability to work independently in a methodical and qualitative manner.
Communication skills and a very good knowledge of English.
