Job Summary

The Lead Database Engineer shall have a background in database administration and software engineering. The candidate will be the onsite liaison to the Government Technical Team for nFocus Solutions. Candidate will lead the nFocus team in sustaining and evolving an enterprise database application. Support the customization and optimization of the overall database management system. Assist the nFocus development team in identifying issues and assisting in developing and optimizing queries. Candidate shall assist with the deployment of software to the Government enterprise and support testing of the application once deployed. Candidate will be required to troubleshoot reported issues from the field and fix the issues or communicate the problems to developers for further diagnosis.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain and evolve existing enterprise database management system
  • Troubleshoot enterprise web application interface to DBMS
  • Optimize DBMS to support performance requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with specialization in engineering or computer science or a related field
  • Minimum of ten years work experience as a database administrator supporting web based distributed application development
  • Secret Clearance
  • IAW AR25-2 IT Level II, completed SA Security Course (CompTIA Security +)
  • DoD 8570.01M IT Level II (CE - MCSA SQL Server 2012/2014)

Skills

  • Proven technical leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to research and fix issues with deployed enterprise database management systyem
  • Ability to act independently with minimal supervision in customer facility
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server
  • Familiarity with Army Training Management, Training Organizations, Doctrine and Strategy
  • Ability to work closely with end user to identify, document and resolve system issues
  • Possess clear and precise oral and written Business English communication skills

  • Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • SQL Server 2014
  • Microsoft IIS
  • Visual Studio
  • Automated Testing

Other Qualifications

  • Submit to required background check
  • Able to meet requirements to obtain a security clearance
  • Be self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes
  • Be organized with a strong sense of urgency
  • Adhere to established guidelines and procedures
  • Demonstrate high standards of quality and accuracy
  • Be in attendance and punctual as scheduled
