Cloud Platform Engineer at trivago N.V (Düsseldorf, Germany)

When you run operations for the world's largest hotel search, it takes a lot of work to keep things running smoothly. When waves of technical problems come crashing down, we need an enthusiastic tech-head who can make sure that our ship stays on course.

We're looking for a deckhand to join our pirate crew! Once you've learned how to monitor and maintain our multi-data centre network infrastructure, you will become our navigator guiding us to brighter shores. If this sounds like it's for you, come join us!

What you'll do:
  • Build, setup and automate infrastructure with configuration management tools like Saltstack to ensure trivago's speed is not impacted with its growth.
  • Work with different Dev teams and consult on how to build a reliable and fault-tolerant infrastructure and applications based on cloud native design patterns.
  • Monitor applications in production (trivago search, hotel management, community etc.) and solve any issues or complications that arise, especially during peak traffic hours.
  • Design and build customized cloud solutions based on Kubernetes and Nomad.
  • Work hand in hand with other teams and departments in order to make your work more productive.
  • Build and maintain cloud service API's to help automating workflows.

What you'll need:
  • A degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology etc.) or an apprenticeship with relevant work experience in a high scale environment
  • 2-3 years' work experience in: Software Engineering, DevOps / Automation, Designing reusable platforms, Web Infrastructure and Open Source
  • Proficient software development skills in Go, C/C++, Rust, Python, or PHP
  • Proficiency in system administration (Linux, BSD etc.)
  • Proficiency in configuration management (Chef, Puppet, Saltstack, CFEngine, Ansible)
  • Proficiency in cloud (AWS, GoogleCloud)
  • Proficiency in container scheduling platforms (Nomad, Kubernetes)
  • A good understanding of UNIX/Linux platforms (Debian, FreeBSD), SQL / NoSQL databases (MySQL, Redis), protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and management/automation tools (Saltstack, Docker)
