We are looking to hire a Senior Engineer to join our team, taking responsibility for the evolution of our customer-facing Rails application. If you're interested in practical usages of machine learning, and how they can be applied to the biotechnology business domain, then this job will present a dynamic and engaging challenge.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with the rest of the team to create innovative solutions to challenging problems
- Create and maintain the data infrastructure used by the Zymewire product
- Discuss and contribute architecture ideas, and lead the planning and implementation of those ideas as we expand the scope of our products.
- Ensure the appropriate degree of rigour in testing is maintained, and raise the standards of code quality and documentation whenever possible.
- As new problems are identified, investigate new technological approaches, then propose pragmatic solutions that will scale to the requirements of the business.
Requirements
- Expertise in Ruby on Rails and Javascript is a must
- Solid understanding of software best practices
- Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming principles and common application designs such as MVC web frameworks
- An interest in machine learning/deep learning, scaling software systems, data mining, web crawling
- Experience with Java or Scala is preferred
- Comfortable developing and deploying on Linux
- ReactJS (web and Native), ElasticSearch, NoSQL (MongoDB preferably) experience are bonuses
- Minimum of 4 years of full-time software development as part of a professional dev team
- Experience working in an Agile development and/or at a startup is a bonus
- Interest in biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry is a plus
