The API Developer Consultant is a detailed-oriented individual, with a background in technology and strong communication skills, to assist in implementing and operating an API Center for Enablement. This individual will work with technology and business stakeholders to support the Open Banking initiative and Open API Architecture by defining, refining and enforcing API management activities while also defining and promoting the production and consumption of APIs. This position requires close partnership with delivery teams working on the Mulesoft platform, including API Product Managers, Enterprise Architects, Solutions Architects, Developers and Operations. This individual will be an evangelist for the Open Banking initiative/Open API Architecture and will work to educate, socialize and advise teams as they embrace Open Banking. In addition to being an API evangelist, this person will also be responsible for identifying and tracking API-specific training to support both business and technology teammates.
This API Developer Consultant will provide overall governance for both internal and external APIs, in addition to capturing and analyzing KPIs for the banks APIs and will need to ensure the defined API governance process satisfies the banks risk requirements. This position will enable and support the onboarding of new teams onto the Mulesoft platform and will also work to enable and operationalize an external-facing portal for APIs, including the support for the onboarding of external entities.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience as a developer or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices.
- Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function. Ability to plan and manage projects.
- Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices.
- Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.
- Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information.
Preferred Requirements:
- Master's degree or MBA and 6 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Banking or financial services experience.
- Strong experience with API Strategy, including API Management and Governance.
- Experience with the Mulesoft Platform
- Experience in Spring/Springboot framework, Spring Security and Hibernate (or other JPA technologies).
- Strong experience with web technologies such as HTML, XML, JavaScript, JSON.
- Strong experience with relational databases like Oracle, MySQL, etc.
- Strong experience with Collaboration tools, such as SharePoint
- Knowledge of build tool such as Maven (preferred), Continuous Integration (CI) tool such as Jenkins (preferred) and Agile Software Development Tools like JIRA (preferred).
- Solid understanding of web-based authentication/authorization technologies (e.g. OAuth, JWT, SAML, and OpenID).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, public presentation or training skills and good listening skills.
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to analyze problem in multiple perspectives.
- Must have a -can-do- attitude and a strong passion for technology and willingness to learn new skills.
- Must be confident, self-starters, have a strong work ethic, and team-oriented.
