This role sits within the Business Specialist Systems (BSS) Asset Team of the Frontline Applications. BSS is involved in the development and supports of over 50 Java based applications which are internal facing. Our team has a vast range of experience in various technologies (Java, J2EE, Struts, Spring, Hibernate, Ajax, WebSphere, Oracle). We analyse, design, build, maintain and support custom web-based applications with complex on-line and batch functionality.
Main Activities
The position is primarily to develop / enhance / support of Java applications. This will include the following:
- Working with our business partners to identify / analyse / document requirements;
- Designing, coding, review, testing and implementing complex application changes;
- Source code management;
- Preparation of relevant documentation;
- Managing and planning own work;
- Developing / coaching of other team members;
- Management of production incident / problem records;
- Problem analysis / resolution (including impact analysis);
- Develop / use tools to analyse performance / impacts on service;
- Test case development / documentation.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Technical – develop experience with below skillset
- Java frameworks - Spring (Core, MVC, Boot), Struts, JPA/Hibernate
- Cloud experience preferably AWS
- Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) Skills - Web service design & development, API (SOAP, REST, Messaging), JSP (Java Server Pages)
- Web Development - HTML (Hypertext Mark-up Language), JavaScript
- Vendor products - Websphere Application Server (WAS)
- Web Service Tools – JAX WS, MQ
- Build & automation tools – Maven, Jenkins
- Testing tools – Selenium, Junit
- Source control tools – Github
- Relational Databases - Oracle 10g+, DB2
- Unix/Linux basic commands and SHELL programming
Non-technical
- Time management skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Willingness to train others
- Ability to work and participate in a team environment
- Manage risk
