Precision Task Group is looking for a Azure Cloud Engineer for a long term contract role in Houston, TX

Purpose and Accountabilities:
The Azure Cloud Engineer is responsible to manage technical development projects and proof of concepts across the Analytics Competency Center. As a cloud engineer you will be designing large, scalable, and highly transactional software stacks inside Microsofts Azure platform. An understanding of DevOps, CI/CD concepts, working with open source container and orchestration (AKS) stacks is a must.
 
Key responsibilities include:
Delivery of Cloud-first strategy by moving applications in the wider A-CC landscape to Cloud, evidencing tangible cost-benefits through migrations, scheduling, load-balancing and simplification.
Knowledge around Container Orchestration (Azure Kubernetes Service), Hybrid Cloud Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure BLOB Storage, Azure Operational Insites, Azure Cosmos DB, ARM, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps
Setup and lead infrastructure development, migration or merge projects
Design and provide technical expertise around Cloud architecture and infrastructure integration to achieve quick, quality and cost-efficient solution for new/ongoing projects.
Manage Cloud Landscape and act as focal point for hosting and service providers within Shell
Mature versioning strategy over applications with different technology stacks
Provide thought-leadership and technical implementation of CI/CD initiatives
Ensuring landscape Agreement and Operating Plan targets as per SLA.
Knowledge / experience in Azure DevOps (VSTS)
Owning and Monitoring MS Azure cloud subscriptions and manage users, VMs and cost reporting.
Dimensions:
The UBDV Analytics Competence Center manages and executes MI, BI and Analytics Projects for Shell Upstream. As per 1 January 2018, the competence center employs ~150FTE staff and contractors across 5 countries.


Skills and Requirements:
Understand the development needs of the business units and establish a positive, service-oriented relationship by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of cloud services.
Learn the business and develop a solid understanding of the business functions and processes and implement solutions based on that understanding.
Expertise in automation, PowerShell / SQL scripting/Python, Azure CLI
Expertise in implementing IaaS / PaaS patterns using Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform
Can take directions and complete tasks on time with minimal supervision, being self-motivated to improve processes.
Deep understanding of any Agile SDLC (Scrum, Scaled Agile, etc.)
Understanding of the various development stacks and automation frameworks on top of Windows platforms
Ability to innovate and build scalable distributed systems using Azures building blocks
Able to balance complexity with pragmatism in designing architecture
Understanding of load balancing, resiliency DNS, and basic infrastructure with respect to cloud platforms
Experience with all relevant Azure components around building highly resilient and secure software stacks
Understanding of hybrid cloud solutions and how Azure fits into an enterprises portfolio
Work on multiple assignments concurrently under aggressive deadlines, resilient and open to changes coming up regularly
Clear and strong communication evidencing Authenticity, Growth, Performance and Collaboration
