The Sr. SQL Server DBA will work with a team of DBAs responsible for supporting our database infrastructure 24x7. The Database Administrator III position is highly technical in nature, requires excellent technical skills in a variety of competencies, and the ability to learn and adopt new technologies. This is a senior level technical contributor who is able to perform all aspects of SQL Server database management in a multi-platform enterprise scale environment.



Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Create and maintain SQL Server databases required for development, testing and production usage

  • Perform capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases

  • Perform and/or coordinate installations, upgrades, and patches to Microsoft SQL database products and tools

  • Identify and leverage appropriate tools to monitor all database environments for optimal performance and availability

  • Provide support for multiple applications using Microsoft SQL RDBMS Platforms -- SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2016, SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Integration Services, High Availability (Clustering & Replication)

  • Provide first-level response and advanced troubleshooting to end user issues / concerns; Level 3 technical support: After hours and weekend support required

  • Configure, manage and perform database backups, restores, recovery, shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Mirroring, Replication, Log shipping

  • Perform Tuning and Optimization -- troubleshoots and resolves database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues, index management and statistics

  • Provide application development support DDL implementation and maintenance, code review. Includes DDL/Schema changes implementation in development, test, and production systems.

  • Support development team to identify and recommend changes for performance improvement as per requirement

  • Implement security for the Databases

Job Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years Database Administration experience supporting Microsoft SQL platforms preferably with clustered and replicated environments

  • Minimum 8 years in SQL Server database performance tuning, writing scripts or using leading tools to monitor database, database backup and maintenance automation tools or scripts

  • Minimum 4 years in systems configuration (Windows OS) to adhere to best practices for Microsoft SQL RDBMS platforms

  • Strong knowledge of data modeling and data relationship analysis for the large scale of business applications

  • Experience in creating and deploying SSRS reports as well as SSIS packages

  • Hands-on skills on SQL Server High Availability techniques such as Always On, Availability Groups, Replication, etc.

  • Experience in database problem identification, problem diagnosis and resolution

  • Experience with SOX / Audit

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience

    Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Oracle Database Administration
  • Experience with Oracle Database RAC experience
  • Certification in SQL Server database administration

  • Highly organized, ability to multitask and manage projects effectively

  • Ability to strategically organize and plan enterprise scale solutions to meet the business needs

  • Ability to handle project execution from vision through implementation

  • Ability to collaborate with business users and to develop business knowledge and acumen                                                                  

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and persuade to all levels of management

  • Diverse level of knowledge with industry standard server hardware, operating systems, storage, virtualization and networking technologies

  • Good written and verbal communication skills and professionalism

  • Ability to provide senior technical leadership and mentor lower-level Database Administrators
