About You

Every Day You Will

• Work closely with in-house domain experts, designers, and fellow data and software engineers to engineer systems that run a cutting edge, modern electric utility

• Design, implement, and scale services for streaming data processing

• Create web and mobile applications and the APIs that power them

• Instrument streamlined user interfaces to gather metrics and guide product development

• Architect maintainable, repeatable patterns and team practices

Your Expertise

• 3+ years of experience working on the server side in a modern language (JavaScript, Ruby, Python, Java, etc.)

• Experience with microservices based architectures

• Experience constructing interactive web applications using modern Javascript frameworks (React.js, Vue.js, etc)

• Strong understanding of OOP and Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures

• Passionate about engineering and a sense of ownership of your code and outcomes

• Experience with test automation, continuous integration and deployment

• Experience with Agile software development methods

• Great written and verbal communication skills, comfortable discussing technical problems with peers

• Self starter, thriving in a startup environment

• Strong believer in increasing velocity through automation, and utilizing the best tool for the job: youll be working with members of our team to keep refining our systems and tools.

Impress Us With

• Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google software services

• Experience with serverless functions such as AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions, or Iron IO Iron Functions

• Proven experience building large scale, data-driven consumer products

• Familiar with messaging based architectures, publish-subscribe, and other topologies. Familiar with RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, 0MQ, AWS SNS & SQS, etc.

• Familiar with eventually consistent architectures like CQRS.
