Sr. Oracle DBA with strong background in application development database support. This role is 50% Oracle DBA and 50% Oracle Application DBA in troubleshooting and tuning complex application queries, triggers, functions, stored procedures, PL/SQL, Java or other object-oriented languages against Oracle databases.
The senior Oracle DBA will work with a team of DBAs responsible for supporting our database infrastructure 24x7. The Database Administrator IV position is highly technical in nature, requires excellent technical skills in a variety of competencies, and the ability to learn and adopt new technologies. This is a senior level technical contributor who is able to perform all aspects of complex application query optimization and database management in a multi-platform enterprise scale environment.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Troubleshoot and tune complex application queries, triggers, functions and stored procedures against Oracle databases

Perform database tuning and optimization -- troubleshoots and resolves database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity issues, security issues, index management and statistics

Provide expert level support and advanced troubleshooting to end user issues / concerns; Level 3 technical support: After hours and weekend support as needed
- Review / analyze Oracle reports (AWR, ASH, ADDM etc..) and provide solution to isolate bottlenecks / issues across environments

Support Application Development team to identify and recommend changes for performance improvement as per requirement
- Work in conjunction with Application Developers, Architects, Storage, Network and Unix Systems Administrators

Provide application development support DDL implementation and maintenance, code review. Includes DDL / Schema changes implementation in development, test, and production systems
- Perform analysis and make recommendations on the best use of database technologies within the application stack

Identify and leverage appropriate tools to monitor all database environments for optimal performance and availability

Create and maintain Oracle databases required for development, testing and production usage

Perform capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases

Perform and/or coordinate installations, upgrades, and patches to Oracle database products and tools

Provide support for multiple applications using Oracle RDBMS Platforms Oracle 10g to Oracle 12c, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard

Configure, manage and perform database backups, restores, recovery, shrink operations

Implement security for the Databases
Minimum 10 years of experience of Oracle Database Administration, Oracle database development, and software development preferably on VMs and Linux OS
Minimum 10 years in Oracle database performance tuning, complex application query optimization, database backup and maintenance automation tools or scripts
Hands on experience in troubleshooting and tuning complex application queries, triggers, functions, stored procedures, PL/SQL, Java or other object-oriented languages against Oracle databases
Hands-on skills on Oracle High Availability and Disaster Recovery techniques such as RAC, Data Guard
Experience with latest version of Oracle databases 11g and 12c
SQL Server DBA experience with SQL Server T-SQL skills, stored procedures, triggers and SSIS
Minimum 5 years in systems configuration (Linux / Unix OS) to adhere to best practices for Oracle RDBMS platforms
Strong knowledge in database problem identification, problem diagnosis and resolution
Experience in data modeling and data relationship analysis for the large scale of business applications
Experience with SOX / Audit
SQL Server Database Administration
Experience with PL/SQL, Java or other object-oriented languages
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
Preferred Skills
Experience with SQL Server T-SQL skills, stored procedures, triggers and SSIS
Certification in Oracle database administration
Highly organized, ability to multitask and manage projects effectively
Ability to strategically organize and plan enterprise scale solutions to meet the business needs
Ability to handle project execution from vision through implementation
Ability to collaborate with business users and to develop business knowledge and acumen
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and persuade to all levels of management
Diverse level of knowledge with industry standard server hardware, operating systems, storage, virtualization and networking technologies
Good written and verbal communication skills and professionalism
Ability to provide senior technical leadership and mentor lower-level Database Administrators
