The IT Data and Analytics Team is created to deliver automated, scalable and disruptive insights to the businesses we are servicing. The position, Director, US Meals & Beverages Data and Analytics Leader must demonstrate a high level of autonomy, flexibility and agility to work across brands, categories and initiatives. Lead measurement of marketing effectiveness and foresight using advanced predictive analytics. Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Marketing, Sales, Demand Planning and Product Development to provide action-oriented insight and solutions. The job entails working on a variety of topics such as: marketing program evaluation, marketing mix model, advanced & predictive analytics and identifying drivers of demand trends and business results. As the most senior person in the IT D&A group, this person will also have responsibility for managing the following analysts: 1 in the US Meals & Beverages business, 1 in Sales and 1 in Supply Chain.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of advanced analytical approaches to enhance profitability and optimize amount and mix of spending on marketing (Advertising and Consumer Promotion) activities.
- Provide a comprehensive understanding of drivers of brand performance. Develop and enhance analytic frameworks for evaluation of brand performance and category planning.
- Support monthly, quarterly business reviews with senior leadership and provide a comprehensive understanding of consumption drivers based on deep insight. Explain the trends with non-technical, simplified interpretation and integration of insights.
- Consult with brand marketing teams to incorporate analytics and business intelligence in strategic planning, development of tactical solutions, campaign/promotion planning and brand/category management. Be the subject matter expert on syndicated POS and consumer behavior data.
- Participate in development of new tools to quantify the impact of consumer, customer and brand drivers on business performance. Help design standardized processes to produce scorecards and KPI.
- Work with company executives, CMOs, Presidents, Sales to make sure we are delivering a cohesive action plan working across functional silos and delivering to the highest company priorities
- Manage embedded junior analysts work plans across the different domains, making sure they are working also cohesively on the highest priorities, removing barriers, ensuring technical development and retention.
- Manage relationships with vendor partners for quality delivery and impactful insights.
Job Complexity:
- Partner with various levels of Marketing, Finance and Sales management to determine the insight/information requirements of each level, formulate an analytic approach and framework to ensure that each level has regular access to information/insight appropriate to their responsibility.
- Be hands-on with detailed data mining to identify demand drivers that explain business performance
- Manage relationships with vendor partners to maintain quality, relevance and timely delivery of reports and analysis
- Proven leadership on analytics, information interpretation, and business building implications.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Quantitative discipline, MS highly preferred
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in marketing analytics, planning or forecasting with increasingly responsible positions. Consumer packaged goods experience with manufacturer, research supplier, agency/retailer is required.
- Expert knowledge of IRI / Nielsen syndicated data
- Strong Business Acumen and knowledge of advanced analytics in consumer packaged goods (CPG). Mastery of total business knowledge in CPG, including retail environment - all elements of strategies and tactics.
- Possesses excellent problem definition, integrated solutions, and communication skills for effective advocacy and influencing the internal customer teams. Excellent Analytical Skills and ability to translate data / business insight for non-technical audience.
- Working knowledge and aptitude for information systems. Experience using statistical modeling packages, SPSS, JMP, SAS, etc.
- Experience using open source statistical technologies: R, Python, highly preferred
- Demonstrated Strong Data Visualization skills using Tableau, Domo, Spotfire or equivalent.
- Strong Communication Skills: can explain complex concepts in simple ways.
- Experienced and effective in working with and influencing senior management.
