This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:




  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

  • Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

  • Understanding of architecture and design across all systems 

  • Working proficiency in developmental toolsets

  • Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams and individuals throughout the firm to accomplish common goals

  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages

  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance and software improvement

This exciting opportunity is part of the Banking Production Management (PM) Team as we revolutionize the way we work to support global applications.  This position will be working on a newly formed Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team embedded in Banking PM. The Banking PM Team is accountable for the applications being available during the required business times. The SRE team will focus on enhancing the application stability and supportability in conjunction with the Banking Technology and PM teams which focuses on proactively monitoring the health of the applications and infrastructure ensuring processes are running, feeds are processing, jobs and dependencies are being executed, and ensuring all business functionality and support requirements are met.

Key responsibilities of a Banking SRE team member:

  • Work as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a focus on improving application stability and supportability

  • Large portion of the time is spent designing and developing robust coding solutions to improve system supportability, stability and performance with the potential to standardize and replicate across a portfolio of applications

  • Collaborate with Application Development and Production Management teams as part of DevOps culture

  • Collaborate and manage all production changes are made in accordance with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology, application and business risk, technology controls guidelines, and error budget constraints

  • Support the day-to-day maintenance with a focus on reducing toil or technical debt of the applications while maintaining a high degree of system availability

  • Develop deep analytical application knowledge using root cause analysis in partnership with Infrastructure Support team members


  • Deliver and work with all stakeholders to complete tasks with high quality, while learning new skills


  • Support the applications running the daily operations of the firm to obtain the deep knowledge required to create robust solutions

  • Provide oversight for the creation and maintenance of Service Level Objectives, root cause analysis, stakeholder management and communication

  • Coach and mentor other team members

  • Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Proficient skills for application development in multiple technologies and design techniques

  • Knowledgeable about Agile methodologies with ability to work in a least one of the common framework

  • Basic knowledge of techniques such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Test Driven Development, Cloud Development, application resiliency and security

  • Proficient in one or more general purpose programming (Eg., Java, C#) and scripting (Eg., Python, PowerShell) languages

  • Proficient with relational database software development with SQL Server and/or Oracle

  • Experience with Big Data and Hadoop

  • Must possess a predisposition to establish rapport and collaborative working partnerships vertically and horizontally in a matrixed organization

  • Must possess excellent communications skills and be able to message to the appropriate audience

  • Must possess superior time management skills to manage changing and sometime conflicting priorities


  • Experience:

  • At least 5 years hands-on experience in requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support leveraging tools such as: GIT, JIRA, HPSM, Geneos, Jenkins, Selenium, ServiceNow, Splunk, DynaTrace, Autosys, and Control-M

  • At least 5 years hands-on experience architecting, designing and developing solutions for large and complex applications both in Unix/Linux and Windows environments

  • 2 - 5 years handson experience managing and troubleshooting production issues in a large scale enterprise consisting of distributed and shared infrastructure (greater than 250 servers globally) amid noise

  • Understanding of network and cloud technologies ie: security, load balancing, and network routing protocols

  • Demonstrative experience eliciting requirements from multiple business stakeholders

  • Demonstrative knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux servers, KEON, active directory, group policy

  • Financial Institution experience preferred
