Department Manager in Kongsberg Digital will be responsible for multiple project delivery and stakeholder interactions. The manager will own and drive technical architecture along with other Department Managers and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment. The manager will also be experienced in hiring and managing a team of highly talented software engineers working in both front end and back end services and participate in the overall planning, execution, and success of a complex cross-functional team. He/She will work closely with product management, actively participate in recruitment of candidates for technical positions and mentor junior technical staff.


Principal Accountabilities: 


Lead responsible for resource and project delivery of the entire department.
Independently managing a team accountable for engineering secure, scalable and reliable technology solutions.
Demonstrate expertise in technology, identify architectural best practices and promote them within the division and company-wide.
Ensure clarity around priorities and goals for the entire department hence contributing to the architectural vision of the company, while working with senior management and peers for strategy development, planning and execution. 
Undertake strategy creation for contingency planning and risk mitigation.
Devise and lead the staffing plan to scale effectively. 
Manage budget and approve requests for investment with a certain level of authority.
Accountable for the overall resource management; effectively implement the internal HR processes for talent management and development like goal setting, performance evaluation, and coaching.
Effective people manager to lead positive change, empower people, cultivate product technology visions and innovative solutions.
Mentor and coach existing staff; champion an inclusive environment where diversity is valued and model the Kongsberg Values.


Must have Qualifications and Skills: 
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a relevant degree. 
Typically 12+ years’ experience delivering customer-driven software products at in a fast paced, technology first, rapid-growth Company.
Experience in design/developing enterprise applications with Microsoft Technologies.
Experience in building web technologies and frameworks (JavaScript/TypeScript/HTML/CSS/AngularJS).
Proven experience in managing an engineering team through Project managers, Team leads, Architects and Individual contributors.
Seasoned technical expert with an ability to mentor top individual technical talent.
Ability to learn and grasp concepts quickly, handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Apply best practices to the software development life cycle for projects based on experiences with a number of agile and blended approaches, as well effectively coordinating the implementations across teams using very different approaches.
Experience operating in a DevOps environment and Azure is a plus.
Exemplary business acumen and strong problem solving skills.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across teams & multiple division stakeholders.
A good understanding of the industries like Maritime, Energy is a plus.
