Cloud DevOps and Reliability Engineer Location: Novi, MI- United States Job ID: 18WD28650 Position Overview We're looking for an experienced and talented Cloud DevOps Engineer and Reliability Engineer to join the Engineering Systems Services team at Autodesk. This team leverages Software Engineering and DevOps principles to design, build and optimize many of the company’s critical engineering systems and processes by building re-usable platforms and automation services. Responsibilities 



  • Design, develop and deliver scalable and automated services architecture 

  • Write software delivery pipelines for various enterprise customers and services 

  • Enable resilience and high availability for numerous platforms, from bleeding-edge cloud applications to residual legacy environments

  • Collaborate to define best practices and standards around DevOps and Service Resilience 

  • Create reusable automation libraries that can be applied across the enterprise 

  • Determine HA/DR, Security, Capacity, and Compliance strategies for existing and new applications 

  • Work with architects and other team members to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified applications or services

  • Develop Usage Standards, User Self-Service designs, and reporting on application KPIs  

  • Write programs to generate metrics to facilitate a deep understanding of the service

  • Develop APIs to simplify service consumption by end-users and engineers

  • Provide level 3 support for the applications in the team’s portfolio

  • Design, develop and roll out automation for end-user self-service


Minimum Qualifications 



  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related quantitative field. 

  • 5+ years IT experience 

  • 4+ years of experience with Windows and *nix systems 

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Dev Ops build and/or environment automation 

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience 

  • Ability to plan and manage technical delivery of new functionality and enhancements

  • Comfortable with agile project delivery methodology (Jira, Aha!)

  • Hands-on experience with data logging applications (Splunk, Elastic Stack)

  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and IAM)

  • Deep understanding of security best practices and standards around cloud computing and access management

  • Hands-on experience with Orchestration tools (Jenkins, Docker, Chef/Puppet, etc.) 

  • Work style that is inclusive to ensure success in cross-team collaboration

  • Willing to flex your behavioral style to meet the needs of the team or work at hand 

  • Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems ability to think abstractly 

  • Consider the “how” as important as the “what” when achieving goals 

  • Experience with version control systems, like Git 

  • Proficiency with at least one of these scripting languages: Python, JavaScript, Perl, Unix Shell 

  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions 

  • Driven to automate environments and provide the best possible customer service 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • Self-directed and motivated 

  • Confident of your skills, abilities and willing to share what you know, while learning from others
