Full Stack Developer at Kano Computing (London, UK)

As Kano continues to grow, we’re looking for full-time junior to mid level full-stack developers to join the team. This person should be a hungry, ingenious, and a hands-on full-stack web developer to work on across both the Frontend and Backend code base.

Our current tech stacks include Python (Django/Flask), latest Node.js for the backend and Vue.js for the web frontend. We are in an initial stage of evaluating a migration plan to shift our platform to a microservices oriented architecture, to take advantage of independent service responsibility and more frequent deployments.

This means you can test out the latest web technologies and pick your favourite programming language, and more importantly, take full responsibility for your own features.

You must be a motivated individual with a love for empowering our future generations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain our existing web projects

  • Migrate part of our web frontend to Django CMS (from SPA to responsive HTML templates, stylesheets & JavaScript)

  • Write technical documentation

  • Write unit and functional tests

  • Solid understanding of web fundamentals (HTML/HTML5, CSS, JavaScript) -- you can write responsive HTML with css styling and js for ajax calls comfortably.

  • At least 1 year experience working in any server-side programming language, and willing to learn new languages

  • Solid understanding of Restful API semantics

  • Strong research skills, open minded, interested in new frameworks and languages

  • Some experience with either RDBMS or NoSQL, and willing to learn

  • Comfortable in using a *nix environment

  • Product insight – you can speak and spec with simplicity and clarity

  • Passionate about Web Technologies, and can make bold suggestions after evaluating technical debts and risks

  • Works independently and takes full responsibility for own product features, but know when to ask for help or support

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience in project management

  • Good knowledge with different data structures

  • Experience with both imperative and functional programming paradigms

  • Experience with AWS services

  • Experience with microservices

  • Experience with SPA/MV* frontend framework (Vue.js/React.js/Angular etc.)
