Senior Media Software Engineer (U.S. Remote)


At Railroad19, we develop customized software solutions and provide software development services. We are currently seeking (2) senior level  Media Software Engineers with strong back-end development experience in scripting JavaScript and some Java.  You will be responsible for developing software related to media asset management systems, automated metadata management and media delivery capabilities. This role requires the ability to customize workflows for their Global Media Operations globally.

The role is remote - U.S. located, only full time (NO- contractors, Corp-to-Corp or 1099).  


Core Responsibilities:



  • Customize workflows for their Global Media Operations (GMO) around content prep and delivery for US domestic & international content delivery.

  • Develop software related to media asset management systems, automated metadata management and media delivery capabilities.

  • Integrate various software platforms through vendor APIs.

  • Work with vendors on API implementation and troubleshooting, suggesting necessary features and identifying enhancement opportunities.

  • Engineer integrated software solutions to anticipate and enable business growth, productivity, and reliability.

  • Identify automation opportunities within media workflows, and develop appropriate software solutions.

  • Coordinate with internal operational & technology and vendor support teams to isolate issues and drive resolution.

  • Configure test, QA and production environments with proper packages and dependencies to enable development.

  • Work with client user groups to ensure operational needs are being appropriately met.

  • Provide some availability after hours. Other duties as assigned.


Skills & Experience:



  • BS in Engineering/Computer Science and some experience within the broadcast industry.

  • 3 - 5+ years of experience with Java and on scripting languages in JavaScript. Some experience with Python and shell scripting proficiency. Agile & Scrum methodologies and software development tools such as JIRA, GitHub & Jenkins

  • 3 -5+ years of experience managing a GNU/Linux environment for development, including package management and basic system administration.

  • Familiarity with broadcast production or video production systems, ideally working knowledge of Asset Management Systems (Evertz Mediator or others)

  • Experience with high-volume data migration projects.
