Position Summary


Business Analysts at the Financial Times (FT) are central to the change programmes that support our continued growth as one of the world’s leading business news and information organisations. We’re looking for a permanent Senior Business Analyst to join the Technology team in Sofia in partnership with Xoomworks Technology to support our Membership platform.


The role will focus on the platform that underpins the FTs subscription business, one of the core revenue generators for the company. The platform serves to support and enable the business departments and product development in areas such as billing and payments, customer account and subscription management, finance and taxation reporting, access and identity management and corporate licensing.


 Our worldwide corporate sales and CRM teams, customer services and marketing functions (to name a few) are keen to leverage the platform capabilities to help them systematise where appropriate and optimise capabilities to meet their goals. Collaboration across platform and product delivery has enabled us to grow our subscription business significantly towards our public goal of 1 million paying users, the Membership platform and therefore this role are a key part of this.


Our BAs are adaptable, flexing our approach to analysis depending on the stakeholders and business needs. We’re driven by both business and customer value and frequently challenge long-held beliefs if we feel they are not in the best interest of either. We’re empowered to work in the best way for the project and look ultimately deliver value for our stakeholders and the business as fast as possible, enabling our teams to work quickly regardless of methodology in an informed and open culture.


Main Duties and Responsibilities


In this role you will:




  • Rapidly understand new concepts and business areas, as well as the fundamentals of underpinning technologies.




  • Communicate complexity and distill detail into clearly understandable concepts, no matter the audience.






  • Thrive on balancing appropriate levels of detail and shifting priorities whilst keeping an eye on strategy and outcomes.






  • Have stakeholders that love you. You build effective working relationships and mediate in meetings and discussions to manage differing personalities.






  • Have technology teams that love you. You facilitate clarity of business and customer needs and requirements without blocking progress or conversations.






  • Demonstrate the ability to translate business strategy or customer behaviours into key needs and deliverables, and ultimately business value within a technology-led environment.






  • Demonstrate excellence in understanding and documenting business processes and activities to both assess key value points to the department and customer, as well as how the technology enables the outcome.




Person Specification


Essential :




  • Extensive and deep business analysis experience. 




  • A wide variety of analysis and problem solving techniques to call upon.




  • Experience of conducting analysis in an Agile environment. You might have a background in Lean, Scrum, Kanban, UX, Anarchy, or a mix of all of the above. 




  • Experience of working with Product Owners and stakeholders, from senior management level to end-users.






  • Experience of managing the Analysis and Business analysts across a domain.






  • Experience in using data-driven metrics to assess the value of any changes made or needed, and measure the results.




Desirable:




  • A media background 




  • An understanding of data compliance principles, particularly GDPR and ePrivacy.
