Salary Range: $6375.00 to $14541.67 Monthly

Responsibilities


Under general supervision, the Linux SysAdmin/DevOps Engineer will provide advanced-level service and support to Academic Information Systems (AIS) middleware application servers. Typically, these servers support web based applications and infrastructure. The Linux SysAdmin/DevOps Engineer will provide primary administration for these servers and applications, and make recommendations for system modifications and/or enhancements as well as assist in setting standards and developing policies and procedures. The Linux SysAdmin/DevOps Engineer will provide hands-on technical design, engineering, and implementation of the middleware platform including Java/J2EE application servers, collaborate with teams for evolving application infrastructure architecture, provide technology/thought leadership around middleware solutions engineering and hands-on analysis/resolution of issues.



Qualifications


REQUIRED


• 5+ years' experience with the operational aspects of large scale systems, demonstrated experience with Unix/Linux systems, tools, backups, security and related IT infrastructure with experience in virtual server technologies, backup and restore processes, and security best practices.


• Experience with Puppet configuration management software, or strong with tools such as Chef, Salt, Ansible, or SCCM.


• Experience with the ELK monitoring suite, or other monitoring and analysis tools such as Splunk, Sitescope, Nagios.


• Experience with development support, application delivery, and administration of web application containers such as Glassfish, OAS, JBoss, or Tomcat, & web frontends such as Apache or Nginx.


• Experience with managing databases platforms ( MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle)


• Excellent written and oral communication skills.



PREFERRED


• Experience with Hiera


• Experience with continuous integration tools


• Experience in infrastructure architecture for highly available, scalable, fault-tolerant, and load balanced server clusters


• Experience in the preparation of project plans and estimates.


• Bachelor's Degree in Computer-Science/Engineering
