Job Summary:

This individual will be a member of the Product Engineering organization. This person will be part of a team supporting the anti-spam and anti-abuse initiatives on various Comcast messaging and service platforms. The responsibilities for this position include a full range of analysis and engineering activities required to combat phishing, email spam and viruses, malware, and abuse of the Comcast terms of service. The position will require working with security and messaging vendors, developing new policies, and performing operational activities including monitoring, reporting and analytics.

Major Duties:

-Focus on data analytics and subsequent policy change proposals to find and address messaging and attack trends while ensuring deliverability standards are met or exceeded.

-Work with cross-functional team to support commercial and residential anti-abuse/anti-spam platforms, including off-hours support when necessary.

-Respond to and resolve operational mail problems and adhere to service level agreements.

-Work within team to ensure capacity and stability of anti-abuse environments are at acceptable level.

-Assist with application software installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting as needed.

-Providing review and input to business requirements, and using those to develop technical requirements and eventually deployable systems.

-Perform troubleshooting and coordinate problem resolution activities with other support teams (e.g. applications support, network support, vendors).

-Assist in troubleshooting and problem resolution activities with other support teams (e.g. network support, NOC, vendors).

-Assist in producing Root Cause Analysis findings that focus on recommendations to learn from and avoid problem recurrence.

-Assist in the development of test plans/cases to be used in verifying documented requirements.

-Support testing organizations with the testing and certification process.

-Establish and maintain productive relationships with vendors and peer organizations (e.g. Operational Support).

-Assist with making vendor selections and developing schedule.

-Other duties as assigned.

Education:

-Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent in work experience and self-study.

Required Skills/Experience:

-Demonstrated ability to deliver the items listed in the major duties section, as well as an ability to multi-task between several projects, and ability to adapt to change.

-At least 1-2 years of experience with Linux operating systems.

-Demonstrated knowledge of Internet protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP4, SSL and HTTP.

-Demonstrated understanding of security, including email and/or web threats and knowledge of common anti-abuse strategies and methodologies.

-Experience with Perl/Python & shell scripting is desirable.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

-Demonstrated ability to work effectively with 3rd party technology vendors.

-Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizations and with large groups.

-Demonstrated ability to work with minimum direction.

-Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries.

-Must be a flexible, resourceful, team player that is able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

-Creative thinking, critical analysis, and problem solving skills are essential.
