Cloudistics is a software company that builds a modern private cloud platform. We tackle fundamental infrastructure challenges such as software defined networking, high performance storage, security, and fault tolerant architecture to make private cloud possible for all businesses.
The Performance Engineer will be responsible for optimizing our software to improve end-user performance on the Cloudistics private cloud platform. You must deeply understand storage software stack, KVM hypervisor, and guest OS (primarily Linux and Windows), and identify and eliminate latency and bottlenecks. Windows storage expertise strongly desired.
Essential Job Functions
- Run common industry performance benchmarks and publish results
- Tune virtualized storage, compute, and network environments to improve performances for various workloads running on Windows servers, such as SQL Server
- Troubleshoot customer performance related escalations
- Recommend solutions to improve Windows workload performance on Cloudistics stack
- Write performance related technical white papers
- The candidate needs to be able to work in a fast paced environment, take initiative, and be able to take ownership of a problem area. The position has cross-functional aspects and the candidate will need to show interpersonal and communication skills with QA, Support and R&D.
Required Skills
- BS in CS or in equivalent field
- 5+ years of experience in Windows performance engineering
- Strong software design and development skills, especially C++
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server OS (2008, 2012, and 2016)
- System level SQL Server tuning a big plus
- Must have experience in server virtualization and storage arrays; in-depth networking knowledge is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; good writing skills highly desired
