Python Software Engineer - Mid to Senior -

Responsibilities
- Work as a hands-on software engineer on the design, development and support of a financial software platform performing post-trade financial processes.
- Interface with cross-functional teams to provide the best possible experience for the software platform with a focus on uptime and reliability.
- Assist with coaching and fostering the overall development of the team.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress, blockers, architecture, planning, task creation, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to the analysis of metrics and monitoring capabilities of the software.
- Participate in the evaluation of performance to determine application capacity and adherence to established SLAs.
- Ensure proper documentation is created that describes the design and architecture of software systems. Ensure that proper unit tests are created and that Quality Assurance (QA) is provided with the appropriate information to functionally test software.
- Work with a wide variety of open source technologies and tools.
Technical Qualifications
- Professional experience as a software engineer coding in Python - Go is a plus.
- Ability to decipher and troubleshoot legacy applications written in a variety of languages.
- Expertise in development of complex systems with a proven record of delivery.
- Deeply knowledgeable of ORM patterns - SQLAlchemy, Hibernate, etc.
- Knowledge of Design Patterns with a focus on reusing components and code.
- Excellent command line Linux skills; exposure to AWS a plus.
- Experience with platforms at scale - authentication, enrollment, notifications, transaction processing, batching end of day processing.
- Strong knowledge of messaging systems and protocols: RabbitMQ, Kafka, AMQP, 0MQ, epgm, tcp, udp.
- Experience with the design and development of real-time systems monitoring.
- Experience building and managing custom REST APIs.
- SME in the Data layer including building schema, tables, queries - MySQL, Mongo, NoSQL, etc.
- Experience with Caching technologies such as Redis.
- Experience with puppet, ansible and other configuration management tools.
