The Java DevOps Engineer is responsible for engineering enterprise solutions as part of the software development organization. Incumbent will be integral in helping to create and maintain automated solutions spanning the code management, build, package, deploy and delivery functions of DevOps. Solutions design and development may include integrations, plugins, tool customization and configurations, extensions, scripts, designs, and models. In this role, incumbent will work collaboratively with all roles and teams in the IT organization to ensure requirements are understood and met. You will also participate in administration and troubleshooting of solutions, systems, and processes, and also:
- Source Code repository management (SCM) including branch management.
- Creating, administering and maintaining automated solutions for:
- Building code/compilation strategies
- Packaging and Versioning with artifact management strategies
- Deployment including product configuration strategies
- Suggesting and implementing approved tools architecture improvements.
- Recommending and implementing approved process and procedure improvements.
- Evaluate new technology options and vendor products.
- Create, administer, and maintain certain integration point solutions with other systems or data streams.
- Develop/Enhance complex data driven Automation framework to support both UI and API testing.
- Executes, updates and maintains existing test automation frameworks, solutions and test scripts
- Collaborates with automation team from each of the product, successfully rollout updated version of the automation framework.
- Provide oversight and leadership related to the synthetic data in use by the development team.
- System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and applications
Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience required; 5+ years of direct experience with Development/Operations delivery pipeline activities; 3+ years applied scripting experience in advanced scripting languages (eg. Python, Groovy, Powershell, Gradle, JSON, JavaScript); 2+ years effectively coding in an Object-Oriented programming language (e.g. Java, C#,).
Skills: Must be familiar with Hybrid Clouds (e.g. VMware, OpenShift, AzureStack) and have experience with change management and/or deploying enterprise distributed systems in a production environment. Must be experienced in dev and deploy of database changes in parallel with applications and have hands-on knowledge of build, configure, and deploy management of containers (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Mesos, etc.). The successful incumbent will have practical experience with one or more IaC tools (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Ansible) and have working experience with infrastructure monitoring / logging (e.g. Nagios, ELK stack, Grafana, DataDog, Dynatrace, Splunk, etc.). Must have experience working in Agile team environment with a clear understanding of Agile and Scrum team concepts.
Abilities: Must have the ability to stand up a CI pipeline in one or more industry standard tools (e.g. Jenkins, TFS, Bamboo, etc.). Must have a strong background in Linux/Unix Administration. Must have working knowledge and experience in at least one deploy/Release tool set. Must have working knowledge and experience of database admin basics (e.g. SQL and MySQL). Must have knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service and have the ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
