 Who Are We Looking For?:

We're looking for someone to help build and maintain our new, highly automated on-premise VMWare 6.5 based infrastructure.  We like to script and configure using Ruby & Puppet. We need a senior infrastructure person to join the team who will:

• Care deeply about the developer experience

• Work closely with the developer team to make sure our infrastructure meets our needs

• Take a leadership role in evolving our approach to security and monitoring

• Be opinionated but practical in your applications

• Have a "get it done" attitude and a background of delivering superb work consistently

Requirements

You must have:

• 3+ years of experience managing Linux servers and automating their management

• The ability to write good documentation, and not completely hate doing so

• Setup and maintained build and deployment pipelines

• Proficiency in bash and, ideally, Ruby

• Excitement for new technologies, but caution in deploying them

• Ability to effectively communicate in a professional and courteous manner with both technical and non-technical personnel.

Any of this sound familiar?

• You have opinions on Chef vs Puppet vs Salt, but would take either over doing it by hand

• You love automation, and scripting those annoying manual tasks you had to do many times

• You can list all SPOFs of the systems you manage without hesitation, and you work towards removing them

• You worry about performance and cost, and how to illustrate the tradeoffs

• Security holes keep you up at night

We don't need you to be able to write Ruby or Rails, but if you can, or are open to learning, that would be very cool.

Bonus Points:

• Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Linux+, e.g., CompTIA Linux+

• CCNA or equivalent

Responsibilities include:

• Top-to-bottom ownership of iOffer's infrastructure, including physical servers, network equipment, and virtual platform.

• Datacenter and Systems Administration - Maintaining and improving the security posture of the systems, continuous monitoring of system health, and solving issues that arise.

• Supporting the iOffer Development Team - Match the platform and infrastructure to the Development team's needs.

• Administrating a diverse array of systems including: MySQL, Solr, Redis, InfluxDB, Cisco network equipment, and VMWare
