As part of the Big Data ecosystem at Comcast, the dx' team defines and executes on data strategy in order to deliver on the promise of "data to the people." The Director, Solution Managementplays a critical role in this effort by linking our customers' needs to the data ecosystem, both within the dx team as well as the larger Comcast organization.
Core Responsibilities:
As a Director, Solution Managementyou:
- Facilitate engagement and stakeholder meetings to achieve business objectives: business and needs analysis, data discovery/analysis and process modeling efforts.
- Drive translation of business requirements into solution intent. This includes requirements identification and clarification, project goals and objective definition, scoping, estimation, risk assessment.
- Partner effectively with Solution Engineers and Product Owners as well as the larger dx team to adequately define solution scope for input into delivery roadmaps.
- Operate effectively across a number of technical domains with a focus in a primary area Understand the fundamental role that data plays in the competitive landscape and demonstrate a passion for data excellence.
- Have performed in an analytical or technical role previously and have a strong understanding of the analytical workflow from requirements/data discovery through analysis to operationalization.
- Understand that to be successful in this role requires presence and confidence, and you have the ability to drive a team forward in the face of ambiguity and competing priorities.
- Embrace collaboration as a central tenant to being successful and understand the critical need to build trusting bonds both with our key stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Anticipate needs, operate with a sense of urgency, and have the ability to adapt to change quickly.
- Are trusted advisor across business and technology teams, you build credibility through an in-depth understanding of our customers' needs, organization, external environment, and industry.
- Provide escalation response to critical technical support issues.
- Help to identify financial and operational opportunities across the data and analysis ecosystem.
- Assume personal responsibility for achieving business results and positively represent yourself and the dx team.
- Fill resource gaps with hands-on work as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (Advanced Degree Preferred) in engineering, mathematics, computer science, statistics, physics, economics, operations research or related field.
- Proven track record of achievement in a role with business development and account management responsibility (5-8 years consulting experience in addition to 8+ years of technical/professional experience).
- Experience with customers: managing consultant utilization, milestone success, setting and managing expectations, controlling outcomes and resolving customer issues.
- Exposure/familiarity to data warehousing technologies, including relational databases (SQL, DBA and ETL exposure, data modeling), business intelligence and analytical tools (Tableau, Microstrategy, SAS, R), architectural strategies and previous hands on development and engineering (C/C++, Java, Systems Engineering).
- Exposure/familiarity with big data and cloud technologies (Hadoop, Kafka, AWS offerings, Python/Spark).
- Familiarity with Agile Software development methods (Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework).
- Must be a true team-player and be able to work closely with technical teams and business users.
- Capable of building strong relationships with leaders across enterprise for both sources of data and consumers.
- The ability to travel ("25%) and to attend in-person client meetings.
- Advanced/Expert in MS Office suite.
