Senior Python Developer – Cloud Product Services

We are imagining new data-driven experiences, designing new services, building software architecture and infrastructure, and scaling our solutions to serve millions of users.  
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities    

• You will work to build our Cloud Platform, designing and developing web services and REST APIs that enable customer experiences across our devices (speakers, headsets, and home theatre), mobile applications, and cloud partners such as music services, voice personal assistants, and third-party integrators.
• The successful candidate will have deep development experience in cloud microservices, and has built robust, highly scalable, high-performance distributed systems that connect cloud microservices with mobile, web, and standalone applications, and / or smart devices to offer consumers a wide range of functionality that can grow with time.

 
Responsibilities include: 

• Design and build highly scalable, resilient, performant cloud microservices and APIs that interface with devices, mobile applications, third-party services and applications, cloud infrastructure, and other microservices
• Collaborate with front-end and mobile app teams to develop product features and services
• Work with QA on developing testing processes, frameworks, and automation strategies
• Work with platform architects on software and system optimizations, helping to identify and remove potential performance bottlenecks
• Document the work you do, especially APIs that you create​
• Focus on innovating new and better ways to create solutions that add value and amaze the end user, with a penchant for simple elegant design in every aspect from data structures to code to systems architecture
• Stay up to date on relevant technologies, plug into user groups, understand trends and opportunities to ensure we are using the best techniques and tools

 
Qualifications: 

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent; advanced degree a plus
• 5+ years working in software development for cloud, web, or mobile applications
• 2+ years of experience developing microservices for distributed systems using Python or Java.
• Experience using and developing REST APIs, using tools such as RAML and Swagger / OpenAPI
• Working knowledge of Python
• Working knowledge of HTTP, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, Web Sockets
• Development experience on Linux-based systems and mobile applications a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
• Strong sense of ownership, passionate, fast learner, detail-oriented, analytical mindset, perfection seeker
• One or more of the following are highly desirable
• Experience developing microservices on AWS, Azure, or similar platforms
• Embedded/Cloud IoT application development a plus 
• Working knowledge of NoSQL database systems such as Mongo, Cassandra, HBase, BigTable, or Redis
• Experience with cloud-based distributed application scaling & data processing
