Job Description

The Product Owner is responsible for driving software development, ensuring requirements are met for each release. As a liaison between business stakeholders and developers, this role is challenged with designing internal systems that will drive the future success of the company. The Product Owner will own and prioritize backlog tickets and be able to adapt to changing requirements and prioritize. This person should be highly organized and detail oriented. As subject matter expert, the Product Owner will also assist Product Managers on product training, Tier 3 support, and knowledgebase articles to ensure system is used to its fullest potential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development life-cycle by prioritizing work for Scrum teams

  • Subject matter expert on one or more modules in internal or integrated systems, providing support and training to internal IT staff and department super users

  • Lead discussions and workshops for gathering system requirements from business stakeholders

  • Groom and prioritize development backlog tickets, providing sound user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation for the development life-cycle

  • Develop SQL queries for troubleshooting and system validation

  • Demonstrate new system functionality after releases to key stakeholders

  • Document technical and functional requirements for new features, bug fixes, and integrations

  • Promote Agile development methodologies throughout development

  • Understand integration points to 3rd party systems and provide feedback to development teams to ensure data is passed properly between systems

  • Communicate sprint deliverables and timelines to management and business stakeholders

  • Work with other Product Owners and Product Managers to strategize release plans

  • Participate in daily Scrum meetings to support developers, UX, and QA team during sprint

  • Facilitate training classes on system functionality to end-users

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as Product Owner or Product Manager in an Agile environment

  • 2+ years of experience as business analyst or similar role, gathering technical or business requirements

  •     Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working with Scrum teams of 5 to 10 people

  • Proficient in SQL and data analysis

  • Experience in delivering MVP projects or net new systems is a plus

  • Knowledge with BPM / workflow tools is a plus

  • Knowledge in one or more of the following systems is preferred: CRM, ERP, Payroll, Invoicing

  • Experience with business support software applications such as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint Excel, Project, and Visio)
