Software Engineer in Test at The Resource Collaborative (Boston, MA)

Our client is a large diversified financial services firm.  This position is located in their Boston office.
This is initially a 6-month contract and will be extended long-term.

TRC is seeking a Software Engineer in Test (SET) for our client based in their Boston, MA office.
As a member of the Equity Portfolio Management Technology Team, you will work within an agile scrum team that is focused on building next generation software solutions for our Equity Asset Management Division. As a SET, you will support the team by designing and developing test automation solutions across the test pyramid including component, integration, and system level tests to support our Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) practices. Responsibilities:

• Be a champion for the importance of quality in all phases of software development, across all tiers & roles
• Motivate fellow team members to embrace EQT quality best practices, and lead a culture where quality is everyone’s job
• Drive discussions regarding current project state of quality with stakeholders (Eng, BA/SA, PO) – defect reviews, execution status, test coverage & reliability
• Drive discussions regarding current project state of quality with stakeholders (Eng, BA/SA, PO), and collaborate with global teams to establish a common set of key quality metrics as success measures – Defects downward trend, Stable NPE, Improving Test coverage & Reliability, Reliable Quality gates
• Collaborate with team to develop and implement re-usable test automation strategies covering the full application (DB, Application, UI) stack based upon AMT blueprint compliant tools
• Continuously look to innovate/improve the maintainability, accessibility, reliability, and coverage of our test automation
• Define where & when manual testing is required and ensure tests are run for regression, as well as continuously curated for project efficiencies
• Understand the system design for implementation of functional stories to best design the test approach, including data analysis, service signature, and UI components
• Develop deep domain expertise for current product, closely collaborate with other delivery teams regarding coordinated testing of releases impacting multiple products

Qualifications:

• Solid understanding of web services – both REST
• Experience with designing, developing, and executing maintainable test automation using test frameworks like Selenium, Protractor, FitNesse
• Object oriented design and development experience using Java or Typescript
• Experience working with and automating products built upon Event Driven Architectures
• Experience with Jenkins, Udeploy experience is a plus
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Previous experience within Financial Services/Asset Management
• Comfortable with Linux and Windows Operating Systems
• Experience in writing SQL queries for data validation – Oracle strongly preferred
• 5+ years of software development experience, 3+ years of test automation experience or some combination of the two
• Works effectively as a member of a team and as an individual
• Strong desire to learn new technologies and the ability to ramp up quickly
• AWS Experience is a plus
