Responsible, under minimal supervision, for tactical high-level network planning, design, integration, maintenance and optimization of JIBs server and storage infrastructure in order to support mission-critical enterprise applications. To include: designing, installing, configuring, monitoring, administering and troubleshooting servers and storage technologies.
Additional Responsibilities:
Designs, installs and schedules server operating system and VMware server initiatives, including hardware platforms such as HP Proliant server and HP C-Class Enclosures/blades.
Designs, installs and schedules storage area network (SAN) initiatives, including hardware platforms such as EMC SANs.
Provides advanced server administration, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
Plans, prioritizes, and schedules server updates, and other support systems necessary to provide communications; coordinates with and requests access and authorization from the appropriate stakeholders.
Monitors server performance, capacity, history, baseline statistics, and problems, and prepares reports on all areas of Windows/VMware server operation; prepares inventory and other utilization and accounting reports.
Evaluates and recommends new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the enterprise. Ensures capacity planning is performed and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement.
Serves as lead technical expert; defines server and SAN architectures and design for the enterprise; coaches and mentors more junior level staff. Leads multiple projects and/or serves as the subject matter expert; works on projects/issues of high complexity that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technologies, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field.
8+ years related experience in server deployment and support. Large-scale project management support experience helpful. Current VMware certification preferred.
Excellent oral and written English communications, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and leadership skills required. In-depth level knowledge in the areas of server technologies, EMC SANs and VMware. Must be highly proficient with server operating systems: Windows Server (2008/2012), Linux, Solaris and HP-UX. Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.
Requires the availability and willingness to serve in an on-call rotation to provide night and/or weekend systems support as needed.
