Software Engineer - Lab Software (LIMS) Development at Counsyl (Salt Lake City, UT)

We are seeking a Software Engineer/LIMS Developer to join our innovative team and contribute to the development, implementation, deployment and documentation of production LIMS systems and other critical software to support our R&D and clinical data management teams.  The successful candidate will be highly motivated and capable of working under aggressive timelines to meet corporate goals.


Responsibilities:



  • Interact and collaborate with colleagues, end users and regulatory management to finalize requirements, develop and deploy LIMS features and provide other software solutions.

  • Develop, extend, maintain and deploy databases, data pipelines, data reports and interfaces to laboratory robots.

  • Develop advanced scientific applications, including web applications and one off scripts/reports, for use within the company.

  • Follow SDLC processes, support validation and documentation of software and maintain code in revision control system


Requirements:



  • BA/BS in CS/EE, Life Science or related discipline

  • 3-5 years of experience in software development using object-oriented programming languages such as Java, .NET/C#, C++ and Python

  • 2+ years of web application development experience with object oriented JavaScript

  • Experience with web based technologies such as JBoss,  JavaScript, Java EE, Django, Angular.js,  js, JQuery, HTML5, CSS  and RESTful web services

  • Experience developing applications supported by a relational database such as Oracle, SQL Server or PostgreSQL

  • Experience with full SDLC and demonstrated ability to deliver on requirements, producing a solid well-engineered product under deadline

  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux environments

  • Excellent communication skills


Desired                                                     



  • One or more years’ experience developing or configuring biological LIMS software

  • Background in biology and/or laboratory experience

  • Experience working in an FDA, CLIA or related regulatory environment

  • Experience with test driven development and continuous integration using technologies similar to JUnit, Jasmine and Bamboo

  • Experience as an end user of custom and/or off-the-shelf LIMS applications, LabVantage preferred.
