Bloomberg BNA seeks a Software Engineer – E-Commerce to design, develop, and support object-oriented programming geared towards re-use of pre-existing and vendor-supplied code in a multi-vendor environment. Simplify the overall use of the system for both end-users and developers while ensuring functionality on all Bloomberg BNA platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, develop, and support object-oriented software in a multi-vendor environment; analyze software requirements in order to integrate and simplify highly complex computer software programs and scripts while ensuring functionality on all BBNA platforms; perform software integration activities to support applications and classes from multiple vendors; create, maintain, support, and enhance end-user tools and interfaces to improve workflows and productivity; provide user-support and troubleshoot problems; help systems analysts and software engineers to develop software designs and specifications; develop estimates and schedules for assignments; follow, and enhance when necessary, BBNA’s software engineering standards and procedures; maintain knowledge of programming languages, principles, and procedures; participate in special projects; and perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: 4+ years’ experience in programming in NET and MVC Framework with C# Development of Webservices and APIs to integrate with other in-house and third party systems, such as Unison, BWD, SmartPros, Shift4; experience with Ektron CMS400.NET desirable; SQL server and Oracle database experience; 3+ years’ experience using programs to integrate with other applications including credit card processing, taxing APIs, business and other systems, and electronic shopping carts; advanced knowledge of BNA e-Commerce systems, database tables, tools, authentication system, and BNA load testing systems; intermediate knowledge of systems analysis principles and practices, programming languages, and database applications relevant to BBNA’s business environment with an emphasis on RAD, Agile methodologies, object oriented methodologies, database architecture (OLAP and OLTP) and middleware; and experience in JavaScript, AJAX, programming, designing/developing on-line E-commerce systems/utilities, developing web services, creating and maintaining billing, reporting, and auditing tools; ability to comprehend and solve highly complex object-oriented programming and analysis problems and troubleshoot problems in a multi-vendor environment on the latest platforms; ability to organize and work with minimal supervision; ability to design and implement complex GUIs which are both user-friendly and easy to maintain; and ability to work a flexible schedule to support production deployments and system upgrades which may include some weekends and early mornings. Bachelor’s with coursework in computer science, information science, software engineering, or technical writing preferred.
Knowledge of current version of languages: HTML, HTML5, XML, UML, JavaScript, and JQuery, JSON, MVC Responsive knowledge, C#, JQuery, Ajax, JSON, ANSI SQL, MS Transact SQL, Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, MS Visual Basic, Java (Sun SDK 1.x-1.4), Lua-, Java-, VB-script, CMS400.NET; knowledge of current version of databases: Oracle (11i), MS SQL Server (2008 or higher); and knowledge of current version of .NET(3.0 and higher), ASP.NET, Webservices, XML, Active Directory, Crystal Report, RSS Feeds, ActiveX, CORBA, JFC, ODBC/JDBC, Microsoft Installer, SQL stored procedure, DB-Library, CT-Library, Windows Installer, Subversion, and CVS.
