The Director of Curricular Affairs oversees 13 professional staff charged with coordinating the medical school curriculum. The Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Curricular Affairs, including adjusting workloads and priorities to ensure optimal effectiveness and curriculum delivery. The director is responsible for budget development and the management and stewardship of resources. The person in this role is responsible for maintaining a curricular database and reporting curricular data to stakeholders. The Director must be able to manage people, resources and data. The Director works closely with the Associate and Assistant Deans for Curricular Affairs and the Chief of Staff.
Qualifications
PREFERRED:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (business, administration) or equivalent years of experience and education. Experience in higher education, school of medicine or academic medical center. Knowledge of UCLA department policies, procedures, and forms. Knowledge of DGSOM policies, procedures and forms. Knowledge of medical education.
REQUIRED:
Minimum of 5 years administrative experience. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Skill in determining matters of importance and information of use and exercising initiative in accomplishing or referring tasks. Ability to establish productive working relationships with all levels of the organization. Superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey information with accuracy and diplomacy, excellent editing and proofreading skills. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment and proficiency in prioritizing assignments to complete projects in a timely and thorough manner. Ability work well with a wide variety of people. Ability to work effectively in a team setting. Ability to work some evenings and weekend days. Advanced computer (Microsoft Office software) and database skills. Demonstrates an exceptional customer service attitude, confidentiality, courtesy, diplomacy and absolute discretion. The candidate should be detail-oriented and possess excellent time management, problem solving and prioritization skills with a high degree of accuracy. Demonstrated skill in exercising good judgment, diplomacy and discretion. Ability to interact and work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
