The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, IT Operations branch requires an experienced Senior Technology Infrastructure Analyst. Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the successful incumbent will provide advanced technical support in the design, development, deployment, enhancement, performance, integrity, availability and support of mission critical enterprise services, systems and applications, assuring compliance with standards and integrity requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consulting and Integration Services:
- Providing technical consultation to MPAC project teams regarding infrastructure development, performance enhancements, implementation planning and service delivery;
- Assisting with the preparation of technology tenders and conducts the evaluation process;
- Estimating cost enhancements, maintenance and support activities, ensuring optimum use of resources;
- Developing and publishing standards/technical procedures relating to infrastructure;
- Providing formal technical training;
- Evaluating and recommending emerging infrastructure related technologies; and
- Liaising with service providers for infrastructure related technology issues.
Infrastructure Performance:
- Managing specified areas of infrastructure by undertaking performance monitoring, configuration and tuning while ensuring conformance to MPAC standards;
- Coordinating issues resolution for specified area of the infrastructure with other Technology Infrastructure technical staff, application specialists, and other affected parties;
- Recovering requirements including disaster recovery processes;
Network Security Support:
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure and integrity strategies, policies, and procedures ensuring integration with the organization’s infrastructure;
- Work in conjunction with the security team to ensure the network infrastructure is operating in a secure manner;
- Maintain new and existing security standards ensuring adherence to enterprise security policy and recommendations, and enterprise architecture standards, recommending enhancements as required; and
- Providing support for wireless service to executive and mobile users.
Server Infrastructure Support:
- Providing capacity planning and management of servers located in regional offices and head office;
- Performing advanced technical duties related to the installation and operation of Microsoft Windows servers and Linux servers;
- Providing technical expertise to ensure connectivity, to the file servers, of all types of workstation operating systems used by MPAC;
- Working closely with external software support services providers on day to day activities and assist in setting priorities and monitoring progress; and
- Providing detailed technical installation and management of data backup software including coordinating the process to ensure that backups are performed and that adequate test restore and restore procedures are available.
Application Infrastructure Support:
- Performing application installation, including the coordination of internal and external (contract) resources involved in application deployment in accordance with MPAC’s project management principles and practices and transition planning;
- Ensuring conformance to MPAC’s change management policies and procedures; and
- Ensuring that all deployment procedures and communication requirements are followed.
End User Infrastructure Support:
- Performing advanced technical duties related to the installation and operation of Microsoft and other required desktop software in addition to printer software;
- Providing technical expertise to ensure connectivity of all types of printers and workstation operating systems clients used by MPAC, to the file servers; and
- Working closely with external support services providers on day to day activities and assist in setting priorities and monitoring progress.
Network Infrastructure Support:
- Utilizing network management tools to match communication metrics in comparison to critical application requirements across Wide Area circuits and recommending solutions to identified issues;
- Performing risk assessments on the network to identify potential weaknesses and recommending solutions
- Configuring and managing multi-protocol and multi-layer network devices; and
- WAN infrastructure design and implementation for major business applications and technical initiatives; and
Other Related Duties:
- Maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge of trends and advances in the computer hardware and software by attending training seminars, courses, meetings studying trade publications and books.
- Perform duties in off hour times and on an on call basis as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Network operating systems, servers, backup systems, communications protocols, network interface components and software monitoring tools;
- Extensive experience in the development and refinement of network operating architecture with particular reference to Microsoft Windows Servers, Linux Servers (CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat Linux), TCP/IP and Ethernet networks; or
- Enterprise level experience in design, architecture and implementation in a private cloud/public cloud environment. Comprehensive knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) service offerings to effectively troubleshoot and maintain current and future landscape;
- Extensive knowledge and experience in web-based application support (Python, Java and node.js), Oracle database technology, application performance monitoring and tuning, application development and deployment methodologies and change control;
- Knowledge and experience in developing and maintaining a CI/CD pipeline for internal applications;
- Advanced knowledge of operating systems (Windows Server and Linux) and networking technology;
- Extensive knowledge and experience of end user operating systems and development tools and strategies to effectively use the workstation for development purposes;
- Strong working knowledge of security protections in an AWS cloud environment including Linux server security and AWS resource security;
- Strong analytical ability is required to analyze and troubleshoot complex application and database systems, research technical subjects, review current procedures for improvement and evaluate risk;
- Proven skills in interpersonal relations, planning and coordinating activities and exercising good judgment;
- Ability to work in a team environment and provide quality customer service is essential; and
- Excellent oral, written, consultative, coordination and interpersonal skills.
