AVP - BARX FX Application Developer at Barclays India (Pune, India)

Overall purpose of role



  • Develop and support applications for BARX application suite, specifically BARX FX/NetFX.

  • These include design and development of server side applications to implement new functionalities and supporting the existing applications



Key Accountabilities



  • Would be expected to carry out all steps of the development lifecycle to deliver new versions of BARX FX/NetFX along with providing support for the existing version, namely :

  • Working with the team and product owner to understand the requirements

  • Analysing those requirements to find the most appropriate technical solution for incorporating them into BARX

  • Developing/coding to those requirements

  • Unit / system / regression / performance testing those requirements

  • Reviewing code produced by others

  • Supporting UAT and fixing production issues and other issues raised by the QA team

  • Writing tools to support and improve development work and reduce testing effort..

  • Working within an Agile methodology and will be involved in spring planning, story estimation and retrospectives.



Stakeholder Management and Leadership


Would be expected to work closely with many technical and business representatives, including but not limited to wider Barx dev, QA and support teams, BARX FX/NetFX business team, client representatives spread across EMEA and ASP 



Decision-making and Problem Solving


Would be expected to design and implemented solutions for complex problems/requirements related to low latency, real-time, 24x7 system.



Risk and Control Objective [This section is mandatory for all role profiles and must not be deleted]


Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.


Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant years of development experience in C++ on Unix based platforms

  • Hands-on knowledge of C++ language with proficiency in concepts like STL, multi-threading, IPC, templates, etc.

  • Scripting skills on Unix such as shell, Perl and Python

  • Experience in writing and debugging SQL Stored Procedures and Queries for Oracle Database.

  • Good written and oral communication skills



Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:



  • Hands-on knowledge of C++11/14

  • Hands-on knowledge of source-control system like Git, clear-case, etc.

  • Relevant years of experience working in an Investment Bank,

  • Familiarity with financial products in FX domain is preferred
