DevOps Engineer

Location: Remote (Work from Home) or Arlington, VA

Thermopylae Sciences and Technology, a fast-paced technology company focused on delivering innovative software solutions to customers across private and public sectors is looking for a local candidate to join our team as a DevOps Engineer.  We are looking for a sharp, bright, and proactive individual who can help enable our teams to perform at their peak by providing hardware, software, and CI automation support.  The candidate will be comfortable in a Windows and Linux environment along with owning all of the company cloud and on premise infrastructure.  The candidate will work closely with product teams to troubleshoot support tickets and also find ways to help teams automate their software development deployment pipelines.  The candidate will leverage their DoD/IC systems and networking experience to assist our development teams in securing our products for deployment to various government environments

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or IT.

  • 7+ years of experience with DevOps and automation frameworks, including Ansible, Docker, Puppet, Chef, and Jenkins.  An additional 4 years’ relevant technical experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.

  • Experience with managing infrastructure in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google Cloud Compute (GCP) environments

  • Experience with scripting languages, including Bash, Python, and Java

  • Experience with Agile methodology and software development specifically Scrum

  • Strong understanding of applying system security compliance settings and the effects of each one on the operating system and integrated software

  • Experience with Linux administration (Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu)

  • Experience triaging tickets for software products, reproducing problems, and interfacing with software development team to resolve them

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills



Additional experience desired



  • Experience with GIS

  • Experience with LXC and containerization

  • Experience accrediting systems on government networks (DIACAP, JFAN, RMF)

  • Experience hardening of Operating Systems, applications, and network infrastructure using Department of Defense Security Requirements Guides (SRGs), Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA)



Job Duties



  • Help improve development team efficiency and effectiveness by implementing and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) infrastructure.

  • Support fast-paced technology company with a focus on DoD and IC software solutions

  • Manages DevOps cloud presence on both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Compute (GCP) environments

  • Assist product teams to harden and secure their products for deployment to government systems

  • Works directly with the CTO and Director of Product to help development teams meet DevOps initiative
