Overview:
ProSight recently implemented the Duck Creek Billing product and is seeking to build additional expertise internally. The Duck Creek Billing developer will be part of the team responsible for enhancing, maintaining and supporting the newly implemented system. We are looking for an experienced developer who is high-energy, a problem solver and has a track record of being results driven. The individual must be a strong communicator who can work effectively with a cross-functional team to understand problems, propose solution alternatives and facilitate decision making.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a technical SME and solution architect for the design, configuration, customization and integration of the Duck Creek Billing product for various development and support activities
- Assists team members by overseeing and serving as a mentor for technical design, design reviews, peer programming, code reviews, white-box testing, component testing and system integration testing
- Works with business analysts and quality assurance analysts to assist in functional testing particularly to triage reported issues in a timely manner
- Responsible for defect resolution planning and execution
- Partners with the Billing Product Delivery Manager to identify, report and manage the defects that require support from the Duck Creek Base product team
- Ensures base product defects are reported accurately and in a timely manner including adequate documentation of the repeatable failure path for prompt issue recreation by the Base team. Performs alpha and beta testing for Base product defect fixes and enhancements. Performs base testing to determine if root cause is a Base a product issue vs. custom configuration.
- Leads the effort to complete the custom builds and full platform upgrades for fixes/changes/maintenance releases from the Duck Creek Base product team
- Performs impact analysis of reported issues including downstream processes both internal and external to the Billing application
- Performs root cause analysis and identifies short- and long-term solutions for technical and architectural issues
- Provides early and frequent opportunities for users/testers to view system changes
- Provides early business testing options to reduce defect/fix/retest cycles
- Ensures industry best practices are applied when developing solutions including ensuring performance, usability, security, data retention and archival, scalability, user experience and other productivity considerations
- Follows defined change control and release management process and serves as gatekeeper to perform code merge and code versioning to ensure integrity of production code
- Partners with offshore team to monitor nightly batch cycle performance for capacity, processing error ratio, deadlocks, scheduling and sequencing, I/O data quality and transaction volumes
- Proposes preventive maintenance activities and upgrades to fine-tune the application for improved performance and maintenance
- Works with other stakeholders to evaluate feature enhancements in future versions of Base product to recommend optimal number of platform upgrades
- Employs agile development methodologies like XP, Kanban and Scrum for high velocity
- Develops effective estimation models for backlog prioritization and pipeline planning (e.g. SWAG, ROM, Level 1, Level 2)
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in Duck Creek Billing (or equivalent) development including Manuscript configuration and integration custom business object development
- Proficiency in Duck Creek Billing components: EXAMPLE Express, Author, Server, User Admin etc.
- Prior full-cycle implementation experience with other insurance carriers preferred
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft.Net framework including proficiency in C#, SQL Server, Web services/APIs, XML, BizTalk, HTML
- Highly analytical and structured thinker with the innate curiosity and creativity to conceive unorthodox solutions to problems
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming, database and Web technologies
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Experience in P&C insurance with good understanding of core-, supporting- Accounts Receivable processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Must have excellent organizational skills including time-management and ability to handle multiple priorities
