Hypersonics Principal Systems Engineer at Raytheon (Tucson, AZ)

We are Raytheon Missile Systems and we are seeking a systems engineering professional with experience leading teams. We are investing in hypersonic research to aggressively pursue the key technologies, optimized mission system architectures, and system integration approaches required to operate successfully in the hypersonic environment and meet stressing requirements. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in conducting trades, developing architectures, creating the mission execution details, and deriving requirements while possessing the presence required to advise upper level management in pursuit of courses of action to achieve organizational business objectives.
Required Skills: 

• Minimum 8 years of experience in the design of defense and weapon systems and associated technologies.
• 
  
• Experience in architecture, systems design, and test of high speed/hypersonic weapon systems and associated technologies.
• 
  
• Proficiency in leading a team in the design of flight vehicles, space, and/or ground vehicles with demonstrated experience as an aerospace architect and system designer including trade studies development and execution, requirements development and flowdown, and requirements verification and validation.
• 
  
• Demonstration of successful team leadership.
• 
  
• Experience in technical and cost proposal preparation.
• 
  
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• 
  
• Experience managing suppliers and coordinating subsystem solutions with them.
• 
  
• Experience generating specifications and statements-of-work.
•

• Demonstrated understanding of how to balance and drive system performance and survivability

• Well known with established relationships in the defense community including the hypersonics technical community.

• An applicable advanced technical degree.

• Top Secret Security Clearance

  Note: This position can be a Principal Systems Engineer (G10) or a Senior Principal Systems Engineer (G11) based upon the applicant’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibility requirements of the position.
  
  
  Required Education (including Major):
  · Minimum Degree: B.S. (M.S. and/or PhD. desired)
  · Majors: Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics – General, and Aero & Astro Eng (System Engineering Content desired)
  Security Clearance: Secret (TS desired)
  Must currently have or be able to obtain a DoD issued Secret Security Clearance. At a minimum, an Interim Secret clearance will be required in order to start work.
