Full Stack Search Engineer (fluent in Chinese / Japanese / Korean) at Apple Inc. (Cupertino, CA)

Apple is looking for expert, self driven engineers to deliver the next generation of search platform that powers the App Store, Apple Music, Siri, TV app, etc platforms. We are looking for a highly motivated Chinese / Japanese / Korean speaking engineer, with a sensibility for foreign languages and with strong software development skills to join our team.
 

Key Qualifications:
Native speaker fluency (or comparable) in Chinese / Japanese / Korean.
Experience with supporting foreign languages for a search platform
Experience developing high quality, high performance Server Software in Java
Experience with HTTP server architecture
Experience with Information Retrieval techniques
Experience with search technologies and systems
Experience with Lucene/Solr or similar search engines preferred
Knowledge of Hadoop/Spark is a plus.

Description:
You will be responsible for the language aspect of the search platform. For example, handling of Siri queries in foreign languages, building spelling correction models for foreign languages. As a member of the Apple Media Products Search team you will also be involved in various components of the Search platform - search ranking, search query interpretation, index data modeling and pipelines. You will be responsible for design, development and maintenance of core search components that serves millions of customers worldwide. You will be responsible for bringing the latest in search and discovery ideas to production at a large scale. If you want to craft new ways for customers to discover content in a rapidly growing catalog on the Apple ecosystem of devices and platforms, this is the place to be.

Education:
BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or related domains.
