Did you know Vipps is more than peer to peer payment? #Backend #Java # Golang at First Engineers (Oslo, Norway)

For Client: Vipps
Location: Oslo

In Vipps we're on a mission to make life easier for people and businesses through smart payments.

We started out as an initiative at one of Norway's largest banks with simplifying peer-to-peer payments and replaced your account number with your phone number. In six months, we reached a million downloads. Today half of Norway's population use Vipps. Last year we became a company of our own, owned by more than 100 Norwegian banks, and currently we are working on drastically simplifying the way people and businesses do payments.

That being said, we are far from finished with growing our product portfolio!

Our backend systems run in container services on the public cloud. They are mainly written in Java, Go and Python, but we strive to use the best tool for the job without getting religious in our technical choices.

We are looking for developers with a strong background in Java as well as experience and interest in other programming languages. We value automation, simplicity, and attention to details. We loathe too many meetings, too many stakeholders and excessive planning. If you recognise yourself so far and you believe in the merits of hypothesis-driven experimentation, continuous deployment and validated learning we are on a good note already!

To sum it all up we feel like a startup with the benefits and stability of a large institution. Here you will spend most your time on new developments and exciting new products.

We do know that you most probably already have a job you are more than OK with. Therefore, we have made an application process which also reflects our name. Try it out and VIPPS we may be teaming up soon!
