Overview
Volant Execution is a new business unit at Volant Trading that provides execution services to external clients. The core business offering provides access to trade at the OCC options exchanges with smart routing that optimize execution quality and economics. Our next generation trading platform pushes the bar on what an execution services business can offer. Using our technology first approach makes us the fastest in the market and keeps the operating costs much lower than our competition. This focus on technology provides a lot of interesting and challenging problems to solve. While solving these problems we work with our external clients, interact with the exchanges, and collaborate with our market making team to achieve an optimal solution that keeps our trading platform ahead of the competition.
Responsibilities
The position primarily focuses on front-end development and requires all the typical skills of a software developer (e.g. coding, debugging, testing, documentation, SLDC, support). However the position goes beyond that as there will be a need to switch roles at a moment’s notice. These roles can range from client interfacing, sales, business, operations, marketing, and more. A candidate doesn’t have to excel beyond software development, but must be comfortable and capable of using a range of different skillsets for the role. This position can involve talking directly with clients, which requires excellent communication skills and a Series 7 license. The Series 7 isn’t needed coming in, but will be required within a few months after starting.
Qualifications
Required:
BS in Computer Science or Engineering
2+ years developing software on a web platform (e.g. Meteor.js, Node.js, ExpressJS, etc… )
2+ years working on a Linux platform
2+ GUI development experience (web and/or application)
Proficient in a scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl)
Comfortable with databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL)
Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
Desired:
2+ years of Meteor.js experience
2+ years of C++ experience
2+ years working in an execution services business
Experience maximizing reactive code performance
Familiar with the FIX protocol
Knowledge of options trading, OCC options markets, and option exchange microstructure
