The Data Intelligence department of RTL is a central unit responsible for collecting and analysing consumer data to extract relevant insights for different business units in the organization. The goal is to optimize products and services, for example stimulating direct sales to consumers, support digital ad sales, and improve content selection.
The Data Intelligence department builds an Operational Data Store (ODS) and a Data Warehouse (DWH) using SQL (and Spark). This data platform is used for the purpose of consumer marketing, product development, and management reporting. We are looking for a SQL developer - with strong operational skills - who builds and further optimize the SQL platform. The data engineer reports to the Head of Data Intelligence.
What are you going to do as our new SQL Developer / Data Engineer?
- Connecting new data sources
- Find and unlock data from new sources
- Conduct impact analyses and writes technical specifications
- Build the ETL pipeline (SSIS) and the data mart
- Guards the quality and the structure of the data model
- Manage staging area (input), and fix flawed entries
- Manage throughput / exchange of data / uploads to third parties
- support in the set-up of new interfaces
- Liaise with the information architect on the best data infrastructure
- Documentation
- Liaise with key stakeholders on business requests
- Support the data analysts in the business units for their operational business requirements;
- Support the data scientists at the central data intelligence department.
Knowledge and experience:
- ETL, web interfaces
- Data modelling and relational database management
- Cloud -based services
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server - and with SSIS
- Experience in data modelling, data architecture, master data management
- Expertise in extracting data via API’s
- Knowledge of BI toolings, for example Business Objects or Tableau
About you:
- You have at least a Bachelor or Master
- You have a Background in IT, 3+ years working experiences in a similar role
