As an application engineer, you will work on redesigning and developing the platforms at the heart of the Rakuten ecosystem comprising of over 40 products in the field of ecommerce, finance and digital contents. These platforms are serving all clients of Rakuten and Rakuten-affiliated companies, potentially reaching out to over half a billion end-users, posing a magnificent challenge in performance engineering and scalability. You will work in agile, culturally diverse teams and regularly interface with colleagues around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for end-to-end backend application development (requirement definition, design, development, test, release, and service operation process in project)
- Deal with performance tuning and review architecture to improve development productivity and availability
- Improvement for the system's stable operation and reducing operation processes
Skills & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hands-on developing experience in JAVA (minimum 5 years)
- Experience in development with DBMS (Oracle, MySQL, etc.)
- Web application development experience
- Basic experience and knowledge of UNIX
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC, JDBC, and RESTful API’s.
- Basic knowledge in NoSQL database
- Experience in Agile development and Continuous Integration
