iOS Developer with Swift experience (first hire at fun startup!) at Dolo (Tea Time Labs) (San Francisco, CA)

Dolo ( is a location-based message board for socializing and discovering what’s happening around you. We are an early stage company (pre-seed), backed by Floodgate and select angel investors. We are based in San Francisco, California. The three founders’ experience is quite eclectic, including several years in senior roles at Apple launching Apple Watch and Apple Pay, an Emmy nomination, and a Reddit Submitter of the Year award. More details about the company & team under Company info.

Now that we've soft launched the first version of our app, it's time to bring on board our first new team member since the start of this adventure—an exciting and important step for us. We have a number of product ideas in the pipeline, as we also prepare for our next big marketing pushes. We are looking for a well-rounded, full-time iOS developer (Swift) with outstanding technical skills. Your primary focus will be development of our newly launched iOS app and its integration with backend services. You’ll be a true partner of the founding team, and someone who wants to have an active voice in new feature development, as well as incremental improvements and optimization. Experience and intuition in the social apps space a bonus (but not a solid requirement).

We pride ourselves to be a fun team, high-performing but also cool under pressure. We believe that place matters, and that people derive utility and delight from the energy right around them. The ideal candidate is not just an incredibly talented developer, but someone who is/likes fun, takes pride in their work, and excited about the prospect of sharing, and furthering with us, our product and mission.

  • Influence and understand detailed functional and technical requirements. We collaborate on and thoughtfully debate all of the features on our product roadmap. Our specs reflect this deep care and insight

  • Experiment with and prototype new ideas and enhancements, including delightful custom UI experiences and other engagement-driving features

  • Build new features and deliver bug fixes efficiently and on time

  • Provide expert technical and creative input. Our app is built but things can always be improved. We would love for you to help us improve the quality of the code and areas of the user experience

  • Lead and help grow other developers on the team, including offshore resources

  • Exchange feedback and use it to grow and improve

  • Highly skilled at iOS development (particularly Swift) — you have owned the codebase for at least 1 complex iOS app

  • Excitement about joining a startup in its earliest days, and about growing the business and culture with the team

  • Experience driving medium or large app projects

  • Experience with iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Core Animation, etc.

  • Proficiency in UI development and customization

  • Experience with RESTful APIs

  • Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning

  • Experience with real-time architectures and messaging (Pub/Sub) technologies

  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications

  • Big Plus: Familiarity with supporting frameworks such as: Facebook SDK, AWS, CleverTap, RxSwift, Realm

This is an opportunity to join an exciting company right before the Seed stage, in a leadership role that can have a lot of impact on the direction and growth of the product and the organization. Compensation will be a mix of base salary ($70-90K) and a founding stock RSU grant (1-4%).

If interested, please send us a note with any relevant information (e.g., link to your apps on the iOS App Store), and let's chat.
