Careers that Change Lives
We are looking for a talented engineer to join our organization as we develop safety critical software for medical devices that hundreds of thousands of people around the world depend on daily. You will work with a world-class team to meet users’ needs by developing innovative solutions and bringing them to market and will directly contribute to Medtronic’s mission to Alleviate Pain, Restore Health, and Extend Life by being on the leading edge to bring closed-loop control to insulin-dependent diabetics across the world. As a Sr. Software Engineer you will be working in fast-paced cross-functional teams to develop embedded software and algorithms for automating insulin delivery therapies to maximize safety and minimize user burden. We’re looking for someone with experience in embedded software as well as algorithm development (proficiency in C, RTOS and Embedded programming) to help us transform diabetes care around the world.
A Day in the Life
• You will design, implement and test embedded software and new algorithms through programming and testing (as well as modeling and simulation). • You will produce C code (either hand code or auto generated from the models) that must run in a resource constrained real-time operating system. • You will work with SW developers and architects to manage software interfaces and contribute to design of the software and model architecture. • We’ll ask you to perform unit and integration testing and verification. • We’ll ask you to generate and review requirements for Software and Model development and manage requirement flow using requirement management tools. • You will perform safety and risk analysis on new and existing products.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
• Bachelors in Engineering with 4+ years modeling and/or software development experience OR • Masters in Engineering with 2+ years of modeling and/or software development experience • Experience programming in C (embedded programming skills)
Nice to Have
• Experience with requirement management and creation tools. • Experience with ARM Core or similar. • Strong knowledge of Embedded RTOS (ThreadX or similar) including the proper use of: mutexes/semaphores, various task scheduling options (e.g. task prioritization in ThreadX or other OS), inter-task communication via messages and event queues, interrupt handling, etc. • Expertise in the C programming language, familiarity with Assembly. • Common embedded communications protocols such as: SPI, I2C, UART • Embedded processors, controllers and development tools: emulators, logic analyzers, scopes, stack analysis, static analysis tools, software version control. • Signal Processing in Real Time software .
