DUTIES: Provide technical leadership within the Data Engineering Services (DES) team, responsible for providing database engineering and operations support to the Company's Network Services Engineering team; design, implement, and maintain NoSQL databases and systems in order to maximize data availability, reliability, and quality, and to support new product and software development through the entire Software Development Lifecycle; administer enterprise NoSQL databases utilizing NoSQL technologies, including Couchbase, Cassandra, and MongoDB; administer multiple-terabyte storage structures for scalability and high-availability; develop automated scripts using Ansible and Puppet for rapid deployments of database updates; ensure ongoing tuning of DES databases and components to address evolving storage needs and enable automation; make recommendations on NoSQL products, services, and standards for implementation on DES databases; define strategies for implementing new designs and technologies; maintain database documentation and troubleshoot play books; perform impact analysis for any changes made to database objects; create database back-ups for rapid recovery, and proactively monitor database health to take preventive or corrective action as required; build monitoring and metrics systems designed to drive system best practices; identify and drive performance issues to resolution, contributing to process improvement from tactical execution to strategic thinking and application; provide technical support to multiple platforms, architects, and diverse technologies; and mentor, train, and provide guidance to junior-level engineers.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; and five (5) years of experience administering enterprise NoSQL databases utilizing NoSQL technologies, including Couchbase, Cassandra, and MongoDB; and developing automated scripts using Ansible and Puppet.
