POSITION SUMMARY
Design, develop, and maintain the software products offered by HealthStream. Lead project development efforts while training development staff in technology best practices and product offerings. Work with systems group to understand internal and external customer needs, understand requirements, and effectively communicate product and technology decisions. Design and estimate effort of new features or sub-systems from business concept to detailed technical design. Develop quality, defect free software that adheres to company coding and documentation standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is a non-management development position. Developers in this position will participate as members of a software development team and will have individual project leadership responsibilities across the spectrum of software development for a particular HealthStream product or serve as Development lead for a HealthStream Software Development team under guidance of a more senior Developer.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
A. KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any discipline), or closely related field of study is preferred
- 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience as a Senior Application Developer, Consultant, Software Engineer, or closely related occupation
- Position also requires demonstrated experience with: ASP.NET and C#; and Database development experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or similar.
B. SKILLS REQUIRED
- Candidates for this position should have demonstrated technical competence with the following:
- .NET (latest), including C# and ASP.net
- ASP.NET
- Web technologies including HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript
- SQL querying and performance tuning
- Familiarity with development practices including:
- Cloud Providers such as AWS
- DevOps practices and automation
- Continuous Integration practices
- SOLID Development Principles
- Inversion of Control
- Code refactoring
- Object-oriented Design Patterns (GOF)
- Architecture Patterns (N-Tier)
- Data Access Layer Technologies (ORMs, Micro ORMs, etc.)
C. ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Candidates should demonstrate abilities including:
- Agile project management experience required, ideally focused on SCRUM or Kanban
- Strong communication skills including technical writing ability
